Who We Are

SoftCard is a privately held corporation based in Athens, GA that is committed to being a leading provider of promotional infrastructures to the retail industry. The company has been awarded 18 patents that cover a broad range of promotional delivery platforms and redemption methods including the use of smart cards, set top boxes, kiosks and the Internet.

Members of the senior management team include:

Ken R. Powell is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, and the founder of SoftCard. Prior to founding the Company Mr. Powell assisted in founding Environmental Products Corporation (ENVIPCO), an international company involved in manufacturing, distributing, and operating recycling equipment. He subsequently served in several corporate officer positions with the most recent being Senior Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing. Previously, Mr. Powell has held senior management positions with Presearch Inc., and Term-Tronics Inc. Mr. Powell earned a graduate degree in Professional Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.

John W. Daniel is Vice President of Finance, Administration and General Counsel. Mr. Daniel is an experienced attorney having practiced law in both private practice and as Corporate Counsel. Through his practice, Mr. Daniel has represented numerous companies in many areas including asset purchase and sale agreements, private and public stock offerings, corporate governance, shareholder agreements, contracts, license agreements, and business management. Mr. Daniel graduated from The University of Georgia School of Law and a BBA from The University of Georgia.

Steven H. Thiel is Vice President of Technology. Since joining the company in 1999, he has been involved with the design and development of all products including the StoreFront couponing and loyalty platform. His experience includes a broad range of programming languages, POS environments, and smartcard technology. Prior to joining SoftCard, he worked as a senior development consultant providing custom database applications and operational support for small businesses. Mr. Thiel graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Richard B. Trapp is Vice President of Operations. Prior to joining SoftCard Mr. Trapp managed $50 million in business activities for Environmental Products Corporation in concert with major bottling and grocery companies. He was instrumental in developing an organization to maintain recycling equipment located in supermarket chains throughout the Northeast. Mr. Trapp is a retired Marine Corps officer. Mr. Trapp received an MBA from Pepperdine University, and a Bachelor of Science from East Texas State University.
